About the position: The Leading Hand Road Maintenance undertakes operational activities associated with the provision of road maintenance services to the City of Greater Geraldton, working under direction to ensure all work is carried out within agreed programs and budget constraints and in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, City policies, procedures and relevant Australian standards. This position provides daily guidance and supervision to direct reports as required by the Line Manager. This position works a 9-day fortnight with every second Friday as a non-working day. Key accountabilities: Lead the team in hazard identification and controls through the development of specific JHA and ensuring team accountability. Promote safe work practices and environment through leading by example. Maintain the City’s sealed road network assets through undertaking road maintenance activities including asphalting, chip sealing and edge patching. Provide initiative and guidance to direct reports in daily activities, including coordinating all materials and equipment for use by the team. Position requirements: The ideal applicant will have experience in road maintenance, with ability to lead a small team and preferably hold an MR class driver’s license. Strong communication skills and proficiency with an iPad are also highly regarded. Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City. Remuneration and benefits: A salary ranging from $82,422 per annum to $86,882 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
