The Role As a Farm Hand / Irrigation Operator based in Darlington Point, NSW , this is a hands-on, irrigation-focused role where you'll play a key part in managing and maintaining water delivery systems across a large-scale site. Working as part of a supportive, safety-first team, you'll be responsible for monitoring system performance, adjusting water flow, and ensuring irrigation runs efficiently and reliably. The work is practical and outdoors, well suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, taking ownership of their work, and being directly involved in day-to-day operations that make a real impact. Key Responsibilities This position plays a key role in ensuring crops receive efficient and timely irrigation while supporting general farm operations. Your responsibilities will include: Operating and managing irrigation systems, including pumps, valves, gates, and water flow adjustments Scheduling and monitoring irrigation based on crop stage, soil moisture, and weather conditions Checking soil moisture levels, crop condition, and overall system performance Recording irrigation activities and water usage accurately Performing routine maintenance, identifying faults, and assisting with repairs Supporting general farm duties as required Following workplace safety, environmental, and biosecurity practices Working flexibly during peak irrigation periods Benefits $30.35 per hour plus penalty rates Potential ongoing employment with consistent work 38 hours per week (approx.)
