Make an Impact on Governance of Indigenous Data Join us as an Assistant Director (EL1) in the Data Governance Section of the Data and Analytics Branch. In this role, you'll play a key part in shaping how the department delivers on its Implementation Plan for the Framework for Governance of Indigenous Data. This is an opportunity to lead coordination efforts that strengthen data sovereignty and ensure respectful, culturally informed approaches to data governance. Your work will help drive better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and contribute to a more inclusive and transparent data landscape. The key duties of the position include Coordinate the implementation of the Governance of Indigenous Data Framework across the department, ensuring alignment with Closing the Gap Priority Reforms and departmental governance structures. Provide advice to support the establishment and management of governance mechanisms, including working with the Indigenous Data Champion(s) and integrating Governance of Indigenous Data oversight with existing governance arrangements. Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders to build awareness and capability, supporting business areas to embed Governance of Indigenous Data principles into their data governance practices. Support representatives of the department at APS-wide initiatives and work directly with other Commonwealth agencies to support whole-of-government implementation. Drive priorities identified in the Governance of Indigenous Data Implementation Plan and monitor progress against milestones. Provide strategic advice to the director and senior executives on Indigenous data governance and contribute to broader Data Governance Section work programs, including policy development and capability uplift. Manage scheduling and risks effectively, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes and compliance with APS values and principles.
