About the RoleThe Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) plays a central role in shaping Queensland's economic, environmental and innovation future. Through the Tourism Division, DETSI leads the delivery of Destination 2045, Queensland's 20-year tourism plan, focused on sustainable growth, regional development, world-class visitor experiences and long-term economic resilience.As General Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of a range of strategic initiatives and programs spanning investment attraction and facilitation, infrastructure facilitation, and grant programs. You will provide strategic leadership across: Tourism investment attraction, including the revision and delivery of the Tourism Investment Strategy. Development of major tourism infrastructure and experiences that increase capacity and regional visitation. Mobilisation of private-sector investment, including on Great Barrier Reef islands. Oversight of tourism-related grants, ensuring strong governance, performance and alignment with government priorities. End-to-end project and contract management to support proponents and maximise economic and visitor outcomes.
