About the Role As the Maintenance Manager , you’ll play a key role in ensuring the effective maintenance and reliability of all production equipment and utility systems in a pharmaceutical GMP environment. This role is critical in supporting continuous production operations by maintaining equipment in a safe, compliant, and cost-efficient manner. You'll lead a cross-functional maintenance team, including trades personnel, a maintenance planner, and a services coordinator. Key responsibilities include planning and prioritizing maintenance activities, ensuring full compliance with safety and GMP standards, managing the maintenance portion of the Engineering budget, and driving continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and plant performance. The role requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on minimising downtime and optimising asset performance Your key responsibilities: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and GMP requirements, fostering a safety-first and quality-focused culture within the maintenance team. Oversee and be accountable for preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring they are well planned and prioritised to meet production requirements, then executed and adhered to consistently. Act as the main escalation point for production breakdowns and urgent repairs, ensuring issues are resolved safely and promptly to minimize downtime. Manage the maintenance portion of the overall Engineering budget, monitoring costs and ensuring expenditures align with financial plans. Perform formal performance reviews for all direct reports, setting expectations and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings (at least quarterly) with all direct reports to provide coaching, feedback, and development support. Develop and set maintenance team goals and objectives that align with overall site objectives and business needs. Ensure all required documentation, including contractor inductions, maintenance reports, and record-keeping, is completed accurately and within agreed timelines to meet compliance requirements. Manage and arrange external contractors to complete repair and maintenance work safely, on time, and following site GMP and safety standards. Lead, motivate, and develop the trades team, focusing on building skills, capability, and engagement to enhance overall team performance. Achieve agreed business outcomes through effective leadership, management, and support of maintenance team members. Represent the maintenance team at site-wide and departmental meetings to ensure alignment with production, engineering, and business priorities Provide hands-on support and expertise within your qualified trade to assist the maintenance team when required. Carry out any other duties as required within the scope of your skills and capabilities, contributing to the overall success and safety of the site.
