About The Role Getting our people home safely every day is at the heart of what we do at BMD. We’re mobilising a high‑performing team to deliver the upgrade of the Charmhaven Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant on the NSW Central Coast, a significant project with complex live‑operations interfaces and an extensive commissioning phase. As our HSEQ Manager, you’ll lead health, safety, environment, and quality excellence across the project from early site establishment through installation, integration and commissioning. The scope includes civil structures, mechanical and electrical packages, equipment supply and installation, SCADA integration, testing and proving—making this an exceptional opportunity for a leader with deep utilities/WWTP experience. What You’ll Do Develop and implement integrated HSEQ plans aligned with client and BMD requirements. Drive safe behaviours and compliance on a live plant: isolations/LOTO, confined space, hazardous chemicals, HV/EE interfaces. Lead and coach the HSEQ team and frontline supervision, building ownership across all work groups. Plan and conduct audits, inspections and control verifications; manage corrective actions and continuous improvement. Facilitate risk and environmental workshops; advise on methodology, lifts, commissioning and shutdowns. Oversee environmental compliance: review Client REF, sedimentation and erosion plans, spoil management, dewatering approvals, hazardous substance storage and discharge monitoring. Manage quality assurance: implement ITPs, monitor compliance, manage NCRs and drive QA audits. Analyse data to identify trends and spearhead targeted safety, environmental and quality initiatives. Lead ICAM investigations and embed learnings. Support training in WHS, environmental and quality requirements. About You Experience in water/wastewater treatment plant construction or upgrades (Sydney Water, Hunter Water, Central Coast Council or similar preferred). Proven capability in live brownfield environments and complex commissioning phases (SCADA/process/ME&I). Certificate IV in WHS (Diploma desirable). Strong knowledge of environmental management systems and quality assurance processes. ICAM investigation training/experience (desirable). Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (must have). Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
