Description Payroll Advisor Reference number: 10982 Closing date: 11:45pm, Friday 9 January 2026 Full-time 2-year fixed term contract Salary commencing at $100,577 per annum plus 12% superannuation (commensurate with experience) Provide efficient and effective delivery in the payroll function for a large organisation The Opportunity This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end payroll delivery within a large local government organisation. Reporting to the Head of Payroll, the role ensures payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in line with legislative, industrial, and organisational requirements. The position is responsible for maintaining payroll system and data integrity, providing expert advice on payroll, superannuation, and employee entitlements, and acting as application owner for key payroll and HCM systems. You will contribute to continuous improvement, system enhancements, and strong payroll governance while working collaboratively across the organisation. Responsibilities Deliver accurate and timely fortnightly payroll, including timesheets, leave, employee changes, and off-cycle payments Provide expert advice on salary calculations, salary packaging, novated leases, superannuation, and terminations Run payroll reports, identify discrepancies, and complete reconciliations and statutory reporting Coordinate month-end and end-of-financial-year payroll processes Prepare payroll data and documentation for internal and external audits Maintain and continuously improve payroll systems, processes, and documentation Act as application owner for Chris21/iChris, T&A systems, and relevant Oracle HCM modules Support system upgrades, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives Provide responsive payroll support to employees and managers and contribute to payroll and organisational projects Skills & Experience Diploma of Payroll Services or relevant tertiary qualification, or extensive end-to-end payroll experience Demonstrated experience using Chris21/iChris in a live payroll environment Experience with HRIS platforms (Oracle, SAP, Workday) and Time & Attendance systems is desirable Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including tax, STP Phase 2, superannuation, payroll tax, and terminations Proven ability to interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements and Awards Strong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills with high attention to detail Ability to manage competing deadlines, work autonomously, and communicate complex payroll matters clearly Collaborative, customer-focused approach aligned with Council values How to Apply Applications must be submitted through our online system and should be in line with the Moonee Valley City Council Application Guide .
