Your New Role Reporting to the Head of Investment & Liquidity Risk as part of Group Risk, the Principal role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and developing and maintaining robust risk frameworks, methodologies, and oversight practices to ensure the Fund’s investment activities align with its risk appetite and strategic objectives. This role provides independent and objective challenge, and leadership with a particular focus on market, credit, and counterparty risks across liquid and illiquid asset classes globally. Key responsibilities include; Design and enhance investment risk appetite, measures, methodologies, and frameworks for the Board and Investment Committee. Ensure alignment with regulatory standards (e.g. APRA) and industry leading practices. Implement best-in-class monitoring practices to ensure exposures remain within approved limits and budgets. Provide timely and effective independent second-line challenge to first-line risk management, including on key investment decisions and management of exposures. Monitor market, credit, liquidity, and counterparty risks across investment portfolios. Identify concentration risks and develop cross-portfolio views. Lead scenario analysis, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis at portfolio, strategy, and asset class levels. Review investment mandates, proposals, and portfolio structures for alignment with risk appetite and policies. Provide independent evaluation of performance drivers and risk contributors relative to benchmarks, risk budgets, and strategic asset allocation. Drive development of comprehensive, timely, and insightful risk reporting for senior management, Committees, and the Board. Lead with a long-term, strategic mindset, translating the Fund’s global aspirations into actionable goals that inspire cross-functional collaboration. Support innovation within risk frameworks, ensuring decisions are prudent, evidence-based, and aligned with member outcomes, while fostering psychological safety. Build strong collaborative partnerships with Asset Class Heads, Portfolio Managers and other Functions across the Fund to oversight specific risk areas, being a champion of risk culture and practices. This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne. What You’ll Need Minimum of 15 years of investment risk experience within a financial services environment (investment management; asset owner; or banking) Tertiary qualifications in CFA, Risk Management; finance or commerce Demonstrated ability to influence via respectfully challenging, deal with conflict and stand their ground where required A deep understanding of the 3 Lines of Accountability or Defence Model including global best practices Demonstrated experience in risk management and stress testing Strong influencing skills, building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with stakeholders. Advanced use of MS Office, Portfolio Management Systems, Bloomberg, investment management, trading, exposure management and investment operations tools A deep understanding of the regulatory environment for Australian superannuation funds. Strategic thinking, strong attention to detail and a big picture mindset. Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work across a global investment department in multiple time zones and collaborate in a team-based environment.
