This opportunity sits within a long-term capital works program delivering complex road and civil upgrades. The Opportunity As Project Engineer, you will act as the client-side representative overseeing contractor performance, technical compliance, and project governance across multiple work fronts. You will work closely with delivery partners, designers, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered in line with approved funding, program, and community expectations. This role suits someone with a blend of contractor and client-side experience who is comfortable operating independently while managing multiple stakeholders. The Role In this role, you will be engaged in: Project Delivery Oversight Oversee delivery of major road and civil works across multiple work fronts Coordinate daily site activities and monitor contractor progress against program milestones Review and approve RFIs, technical queries, and site instructions Maintain audit-ready records of variations, clarifications, and approvals Technical and Compliance Management Review design packages, specifications, and contractor submissions for compliance Benchmark costs, risks, and delivery options to protect approved funding limits Support preparation and review of tender and ECI documentation Maintain inspection, handover, and compliance records Stakeholder and Council Interface Prepare site access schedules and manage land access and licence requirements Provide technical advice and clarifications to internal and external stakeholders Ensure alignment between contractor obligations and stakeholder expectations Contractor and Subcontractor Coordination Negotiate scope clarifications and commercial matters where required Monitor safety, quality, and performance compliance Identify risks early and recommend corrective actions to maintain delivery certainty Reporting and Governance Prepare monthly progress reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders Support reporting submissions to funding bodies and oversight groups Maintain audit-proof documentation across all project phases Culture and Alignment Promote organisational values and governance expectations across project teams Reinforce accountability, transparency, and fair dealing Support positive community outcomes and sustainable delivery practices About You To succeed, you will bring: Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Experience delivering civil infrastructure projects in Australia Exposure to Tier 1 contracting environments preferred Client-side experience with state road authorities or local government highly regarded Strong understanding of contract administration and technical compliance Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Ability to work autonomously in a regional project environment The Benefits Permanent client-side role based in regional NSW Minimum two-year term with possible extension to three years Competitive salary package up to $180k super Vehicle, phone, and relocation assistance provided Long-term project certainty and strong stakeholder exposure Opportunity to represent the client and influence delivery outcomes Please note: Applications will only be considered from Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents with local experience.
