Your Role As our Women’s Health Counsellor , you’ll provide accessible, goal-focused counselling that empowers women who have experienced trauma, including domestic & family violence, sexual assault, grief and loss. Working in an integrated service model, you’ll deliver wrap-around care, linking clients to services and supports while offering long-term counselling that helps women achieve their goals and move forward. You’ll conduct counselling assessments, provide high-quality counselling and psychotherapy, referrals to case management, and facilitate therapeutic groups. The Benevolent Society considers being a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s. 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) Duties Provide counselling to women impacted by trauma, DFV, historical child sexual assault, and mental health concerns using a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach. Collaborate with clients to set achievable goals and regularly review progress. Apply a range of evidence-based modalities and therapeutic frameworks, tailoring interventions and providing personalised, client-focused care. Engage clients through strengths-based assessments, risk minimisation, and safety planning to ensure wellbeing and empowerment. Co-facilitate psychoeducation and wellbeing groups that promote resilience, self-care, and recovery. Work within an integrated service model to deliver wrap-around support, linking clients to additional services and resources as needed. Skills and Experience You will be a Counsellor, Psychologist, or Social Worker with: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years’ experience providing counselling, ideally with women who have experienced trauma. Proven ability to support women and families affected by trauma, domestic and family violence, mental health challenges, or other forms of adversity. A trauma-informed, DFV-informed, strengths-based approach to client care. Sound knowledge of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting responsibilities. Strong time management and organisational skills to balance competing priorities effectively. Experience in facilitating therapeutic wellbeing and psychoeducation groups.
