Mutual trust and respect are at the heart of everything we do. The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Assistant to work in our Public Law team based in Brisbane. This is a high-volume litigation practice, and we represent key Government clients. Responsibilities include day to day administration and the following: Preparing, maintaining and providing complex reports to the client in a timely and accurate manner on a regular basis Work with systems and operations manager and database administrator to improve and create client reports as required; Generate, print, and scan high volume of invoices (in excess of 1000 invoices every month); Liaise with the client regarding any queries including working with the client on any audits they request; Work with the Partners and Fee Earners on fixed fee exclusions, so matters can be billed over any capped fee amount according to the type of matter; Process and accurately record counsel fees and disbursements on matters to ensure they are entered in a timely manner; Work with finance to ensure trust, credit notes and any other matters are dealt with the clear funds; and Final bill, close and archive matters at the completion of the file. Who We Are Looking For The ideal candidate will have at least three years’ experience as a legal assistant. You will have a professional approach and excellent organisational and communication skills. You will have the ability to prioritise tasks, display initiative, have good attention to detail, and a proven history of meeting deadlines. Most importantly, you will have a “can do” attitude. Prior litigation experience or working in a public law team will be highly regarded. We unfortunately cannot accept applications from law students.
