The People and Performance Branch play’s a central role in helping the Education Directorate achieve its strategic objectives and meet legislative obligations by attracting, developing, and supporting a future-ready workforce. It provides a broad range of strategic and operational HR functions, including employee and industrial relations, recruitment and retention, learning and development, rewards and recognition, workplace culture, HR policy, organisational design, establishment governance, and workforce planning. The Human Resource Officer will support the Directorate in delivering a range of operational services to ACT Public Schools and the Education Support Office. Working within the Recruitment team, this role contributes to the attracting, developing, and retention of a skilled workforce to improve student outcomes. The team provides advice and operational support on recruitment, deployment, establishment management, resource allocation, staff movement, and employment conditions, ensuring alignment with approved staffing structures. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders by offering high quality, accurate advice to clients. Eligibility/Other requirements: This position requires a solid understanding of the HR context or relevant qualifications/experience in a similar role would be highly advantageous. Previous or current experience within the Education Directorate and the understanding of, or experience working in an ACT Public School context or environment is desirable. Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of six months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
