The combined Eyre Peninsula Councils have collaborated to establish regional coordination of their WHS Systems. The WHS Regional Coordinator will be engaged on 2-year fixed term contract and is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a shared Work Health and Safety (WHS) system model across the Eyre Peninsula. The WHS Regional Coordinator (North Western) will service Ceduna, Elliston, Kimba, Streaky Bay and Wudinna Councils and collaborate with the WHS Regional Coordinator (South Eastern) to ensure consistency and continuity across the EP. Key Objectives Include: • Develop and implement a consistent and practical WHS approach across the EP region, aligned to legislative requirements and best practice standards. • Centralise selected WHS functions to minimise duplication of effort and resource requirements for individual Councils • Maximise efficiency and benefits by pooling resources, expertise, and shared documentation. • Ensure active engagement and accountability of Council leadership in improving WHS culture and performance and ensuring legislative compliance. • Establish a coordinated and sustainable WHS service model that enhances regional capability and reduces reliance on external consultancy support. • Build shared knowledge and tools (e.g. procedures, templates, training resources) accessible to all participating Councils. • Provide a dedicated resource to support on-the-ground implementation of WHS improvements across Councils. • Strengthen communication, collaboration, and alignment with their peer Coordinator to promote consistency and continuous improvement across the wider EP region. • Demonstrating and supporting the Councils to have a proactive approach to work health and safety management. • Support workforce wellbeing, injury prevention, and compliance through consistent monitoring, reporting, and evaluation. • Foster a culture of collective responsibility and innovation in WHS management across the EP Councils.
