McFarlane Pastoral invites applications for a motivated and experienced individual to join their business as a Senior Farm Hand (2IC) at Brinkley Station. This progressive, family-owned business operates on an expansive 9000-hectare property, located just 12 km south of Tailem Bend. The Employer: McFarlane Pastoral is a family business operating Brinkley Station, a 9000-hectare property in Wellington, SA. They maintain a progressive attitude and are not afraid of change. The focus of the operation is on sheep (for wool and store lamb production), along with irrigation used for livestock fodder supplementation and general pasture renovation. The farm manages 10,000 Merino ewes, joined to both Merino and White Sullfok rams, with majority of offspring sold as pasture fed store lambs. The successful applicant, filling the role of Senior Farm Hand (2IC), will be responsible for a wide range of duties supporting these operations. Key responsibilities will involve working with the livestock enterprise, including participating in activities such as shearing, marking, animal health and fencing alongside contractors. The property is well-equipped, featuring undercover and newly errected sheep yards. The Senior Farm Hand will also be required to assist with annual pasture renovations, cereal crop productions and flood irrigation at Brinkley Station. Basic mechanical skills and a current Chemical Certificate would be considered advantageous to this role. Accommodation is a four-bedroom stone house, soon to have a new kitchen, with views over Lake Alexandrina (approx. 300m away). A work ute is supplied, and a school bus pickup is available at the end of the driveway. Brinkley Station is conveniently situated just 75 minutes from the Adelaide CBD. The nearby town of Tailem Bend, only 15 minutes away, is home to the Tailem Bend Motorpark. The location also offers easy access to Lake Alexandrina and the Murray River for fishing and watersports.
