The Opportunity The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) regulates the NSW Compulsory Third Party (CTP) scheme, ensuring insurers meet their obligations and deliver fair outcomes for customers. This scheme provides critical protection for millions of people and manages billions in premiums annually. As Director Supervision – CTP, you will lead the implementation of SIRA’s regulatory framework across the supervision function, holding insurers accountable for compliance in claims management, premium pricing, prudential matters, and market operations. This role is pivotal in driving scheme integrity, improving customer outcomes, and ensuring premium affordability. You’ll manage a team of 20 FTE, foster a culture of accountability and ownership, and deliver strategic programs that strengthen compliance and transparency. This is a unique opportunity to influence industry behaviour, implement regulatory strategy, and protect public trust. Key Focus Areas Regulatory Leadership: Oversee supervision practices aligned to SIRA’s regulatory framework, including prudential oversight and compliance monitoring. Accountability and Culture: Drive a culture of responsibility within the team and across the scheme, ensuring decisions are made at the right level. Strategic Delivery: Implement regulatory strategies and targeted interventions to address risks and improve scheme performance. Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with CTP insurers, industry leaders, and government stakeholders to optimise outcomes. Program Oversight: Lead initiatives such as the application of supervision frameworks and excess profit/loss guidelines. The Leader We’re Seeking You are an experienced regulatory leader with deep knowledge of compliance and insurance operations. Your background includes: Proven experience in regulatory environments, ideally within insurance or financial services. Strong understanding of administrative law principles (ideal). Ability to implement strategy and deliver measurable outcomes. Advanced communication skills – both written and verbal – to influence and negotiate effectively.
