Reporting to the Director Business Engagement and Assurance, the Assistant Director Governance and Assurance will actively engage with stakeholders to deliver and advise on effective frameworks, policies and procedures to meet business objectives and legislative obligations. Working within a small team, you will provide leadership and oversight of ACIAR's compliance practices and manage ACIAR's governance requirements, including enterprise policies and reporting. This includes working collaboratively across the agency to deliver ACIAR's Integrity Policy, Data Strategy, Fraud Control Plan, Business Continuity Plan, and internal audit and assurance programs. You will also contribute to the management of ACIAR's Security Framework, property management, and Freedom of Information (FOI) and Public Interest Disclosure (PID) compliance and reporting. The key duties of the position include Under the general direction of the Director Business Engagement and Assurance the Assistant Director Governance and Assurance will: 1. Manage the delivery of legislative reporting requirements, including the Portfolio Budget Statement, Annual Report, and Corporate Plan. 2. Manage agency governance and assurance practices such as the Audit and Risk Committee and internal audit program, ensuring recommendations are implemented across the agency in a timely manner. 3. Manage the delivery of key assurance policies, procedures, and frameworks in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements. 4. Manage and implement an annual review timeline for policies, frameworks, and procedures, to ensure adherence to relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and identify areas for improvement. 5. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather information, provide advice, and deliver accurate and timely briefing and reporting outcomes. 6. Work collaboratively across the agency to ensure security and property management activities provide a safe and productive environment for staff. 7. Work collaboratively across the agency to deliver Business Engagement and Assurance activities, training, and communications to improve staff awareness, capability and compliance. 8. Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to APS staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Perform other duties as required or requested.
