Our Agriculture, Ecology, and Natural Sciences team works in partnership with clients from both the private and public sectors to provide innovative ecological solutions for conservation and infrastructure projects in NSW and beyond. We are currently seeking a passionate senior ecologist to lead impactful projects and support the development of our team’s capability. Working in a team of passionate ecologists, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Providing technical leadership, client management, and project delivery for conservation and the ecological components of multidisciplinary projects across New South Wales and nationally. Field-based botanical survey work, including vegetation mapping, ecological monitoring, targeted threatened flora and fauna surveys, and vegetation integrity plots using the Biodiversity Assessment Method Preparing proposals and technical reports for public and private sector clients, while seeking out new project opportunities and converting leads into projects. Assisting with business planning and making strategic decisions for the group’s development, while build capability through mentoring and developing junior team members. Collaborating with GHD staff from a range of disciplines including Environmental Planners, Cultural Heritage Advisors, Spatial scientists, Hydrogeologists, Engineers, Project Managers etc. Growing our team’s technical capability through mentoring and conducting technical reviews What you will bring to the team 10 or more years of professional experience in a consulting environment, with tertiary qualifications in botany, ecology, or a related discipline. Biodiversity Assessment Method accreditation and well-developed skills in the preparation of technical reports including BDARs, BCARs, BSSARs, Referrals, management plans and other reports Expert experience conducting vegetation and/or fauna surveys in NSW and strong botanical identification skills, including experience using dissecting microscopes and identification keys Strong understanding of national and state environmental legislation and policy (e.g. BC Act, EPBC Act, EP&A Act) and experience liaising with clients and approval authorities on complex projects Willingness to work with a cohort of senior ecologists to guide and support junior team members A current full NSW driver’s license and willingness to travel and work in remote areas We’re open to discussing full time or part time options.
