Where you'll be working John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH) is a specialised tertiary referral paediatric hospital in Newcastle, providing complex medical, surgical, major trauma and neonatal care services for Northern NSW. The Children's Hospital in Newcastle, one of three children's hospitals in NSW, will over the course of a year see almost 25,000 children and young people present to the emergency department, have 9,000 admitted to hospital and perform over 100,000 occasions of service through outpatient clinics. Other regional hospitals part of the HNEkidshealth Network are Belmont, Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton, Armidale, Tamworth and Manning Hospital. What You'll Be Doing This position is suitable for an applicant who wishes exposure to advanced paediatric surgical, neonatal and paediatric urology to further a career as a paediatric surgeon or urologist. It includes an active role in various aspects of the Paediatric General Surgery and Urology, Trauma (including burns) and other subspecialties including administrative, clinical, quality improvement, educational and research activities. The responsibilities, which accompany this function, include clinical and non-clinical activities as determined by the Director of Paediatric Surgery and Trauma services. MBBS or equivalent; currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia A minimum of 2 years of postgraduate experience with commencement paediatric surgical desirable or demonstration of pursuing one Demonstrated ability to do routine acute paediatric surgical procedures with minimum supervision Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise Demonstrated effective teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary clinical care team Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education and teaching undergraduate and post-graduates Need more information?
