Personal financial advice on life insurance is one of the many products and services we offer to our members, who proactively engage us for advice. About the Role This hybrid position combines specialist financial advisory responsibilities with strategic business development activities. Approximately 70% of your time will focus on delivering high-quality, personalised financial advice - primarily life insurance (inside and outside superannuation) to Avant members, non-member medical professionals, and their families. The remaining 30% of the role centres on promoting our financial planning proposition. This includes attending medical and industry events, presenting to key stakeholders, building professional relationships, and generating new advice opportunities for yourself and the wider team. Some interstate and intercity travel is required. Specialist Expertise Required As a Financial Adviser in this niche field, you will bring strong technical capability across:• Life insurance solutions (Life, TPD, Trauma, Income Protection)• Business insurance strategies (Key Person, Business Expense, Buy/Sell arrangements)• Integrating insurance strategies within the financial planning needs of medical professionals and their practices Key Accountabilities Dual Role Management (Critical)• Balance the dual demands of advice production and business development.• Consistently meet Statement of Advice (SoA) delivery targets (70%) and lead generation targets (30%) within a balanced scorecard framework. Business Development & Stakeholder Engagement• Represent Avant at events hosted by professional bodies, hospitals, medical practices, and partner organisations.• Present confidently to medical professionals, raising awareness of life insurance strategies and generating new advice opportunities.• Build brand visibility and contribute to a strong pipeline of qualified leads. Professional Development & Compliance• Maintain all educational and CPD requirements (minimum 40 hours annually).• Complete APL product training, internal compliance training, and stay current with regulatory and industry developments. Team Collaboration• Work effectively within a collaborative adviser team.• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and shared success. To be successful in this role, you will have: • A proven track record as a Financial Adviser with deep expertise in life insurance advice.• Experience advising on retail life insurance, superannuation, and business insurance strategies.• A bachelor’s degree (AQF7) or equivalent or be on track to meet the education requirements by 31/12/2025 (study assistance may be available).• Strong proficiency with financial planning software; XPLAN (including Risk Researcher) highly regarded.• Experience advising medical professionals (highly beneficial). Essential Requirements Compliance & Ethics• Demonstrated ability to deliver compliant advice in clients' best interests, aligned with the Adviser Code of Ethics. Qualifications & Licensing• Passed the Financial Adviser Exam.• Minimum 40 CPD hours maintained annually.• Meet or on track to meet education requirements by 31 December 2025.• Willingness to undergo licensee compliance and employment reference checks.• Demonstrated capability in providing high-quality life insurance, superannuation, and business succession advice to professional clients. Required Registrations (as a condition of appointment) • Must meet all current regulatory requirements for providing personal financial advice and be on track for 1 January 2026 standards.• Registered (or eligible for registration) with ASIC as a Qualified Tax Relevant Provider (QTRP) to provide Tax (Financial) Advice.• Able to meet Fit and Proper requirements for the ASIC Relevant Provider Register.
