About the role DroneShield is seeking a Verification & Validation Engineer with hands-on experience in embedded systems and system-level testing. The role will report to the Verification and Validation Manager and work cross-functionally with Systems Engineering, QA, T&E, NPI and developers to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance of complex systems. This role focuses on system-level integration, performance benchmarking, environmental testing, and formal verification of both software and hardware components. You will contribute across the full V&V lifecycle – from test plan creation to execution and reporting – including real-world field testing and system behaviour validation. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and procedures for embedded systems, integrated hardware/software solutions, and system-of-systems deployments.Design, implement, and execute both automated and manual system-level test cases.Lead verification activities across different engineering phases, including lab-based, and field testing.Perform environmental and reliability testing using temperature chambers, RF test benches, power measurement equipment, and other diagnostic tools.Conduct sensor integration testing, end-to-end data validation, and hardware/software interoperability verification.Ensure traceability of verification results to system requirements and design inputs using tools such as Jama/Doors.Collaborate with software and hardware engineering teams to debug, report, and resolve defects or anomalies.Prepare high-quality technical documentation including test reports, procedures, and V&V summaries.Support pre-release and user acceptance testing activities.Qualifications, Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.2–5 years of experience in Verification & Validation or Systems Integration & Test roles.Strong understanding of system testing methodologies in safety-critical or defence/aerospace environments.Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, Bash, etc.), and familiarity with Linux-based environments.Exposure to embedded systems, RF sensing, sensor fusion, or signal processing technologies is highly desirable.Experience with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Xray, Jama and Confluence.Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and a structured, methodical approach to test execution and documentation.Comfortable working hands-on with hardware, including sensors, antennas and field ready devices.
