The People & Culture Generalist supports the P&C Manager in partnering with leadership teams and employees to deliver the bank’s corporate strategy. This role ensures consistent, high-quality HR services across the Customer Division - the largest business unit, representing approximately 70% of the workforce - by facilitating operational requirements and driving initiatives that enhance employee engagement, compliance, and organisational performance. What you will be doing Partner with managers in the Customer Division to support workforce planning, resourcing, and end-to-end recruitment (screening, interviews, testing debriefs, preparing contract instructions) and monitoring the Retail Jobs inbox. Coordinate background checks, onboarding processes, and recruitment for trainees and interns. Promote diversity, inclusion, and reward initiatives across the division. Support managers with performance management, disciplinary processes, and employee relations issues. Provide advice and administrative support on HR matters including policy interpretation, OH&S, parental leave, and learning and development. Contribute to culture and engagement initiatives, including new starter programs and workshops. Assist with compliance requirements, wellness initiatives, and safety programs within the business unit. Participate in project work, including change management during restructures, and drive continuous improvement in HR policies and processes. Travel to branches and other locations as required to support managers and employees. What you will bring Strong experience in generalist HR, with tertiary qualifications in People & Culture or a related discipline (or working toward Bachelor level or above). Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to collaborate across all levels of the organisation. Excellent communication and influencing skills - able to negotiate persuasively and adapt to different audiences. Proven ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to professionalism and integrity, with a focus on building capability and achieving goals. Strong time management and administrative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to contribute innovative ideas and support initiatives that strengthen culture and engagement.
