The Opportunity Contract: 9 months, with potential for extension Hybrid - Melbourne We’re looking for a Lead UI Developer with a strong focus on React to guide front-end development across enterprise-grade applications. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping technical direction, mentoring others, and delivering high-quality user experiences in collaboration with cross-functional teams. You’ll play a key role in driving consistency, accessibility, and performance across digital products, while contributing to design systems and architectural decisions. What You’ll Do Lead the design, development, and delivery of front-end solutions using React.js and related technologies. Collaborate with UX/UI designers, backend developers, and product owners to translate business requirements into responsive, high-performing interfaces. Drive adoption and consistency of design systems and component libraries across multiple projects or squads. Ensure code quality, scalability, and maintainability through code reviews, testing, and continuous integration. Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence. Champion front-end best practices, performance optimisation, and responsive design. Work closely with DevOps and QA teams to support CI/CD processes and deployment automation. Stay up-to-date with emerging front-end technologies and contribute to architectural decisions and standards. Collaborate with stakeholders to plan delivery roadmaps, estimate work, and align technical solutions with our client’s enterprise environment and security standards. What You’ll Bring Proven experience as a Senior or Lead UI Developer in enterprise or telecommunications environments. Deep expertise in React.js (v19), including hooks, context API, and component-driven architecture. Strong proficiency in TypeScript, ES6, and state management tools Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS, and responsive design principles. Experience with component libraries and tools like Storybook, Material UI, or Chakra UI. Familiarity with RESTful APIs Experience with CI/CD tools and Git workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Gitlab, Azure DevOps).
