The Opportunity Contract – until end of June 2026, with potential for extension Hybrid - Melbourne We’re looking for a Microservices Architect consultant to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure API and microservices solutions across our client’s platforms. This role is central to shaping architectural standards and ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, future-ready systems. What You’ll Do Architectural Leadership : Define API and microservices architecture in collaboration with other architects, business partners, end users, business analysts, and technology teams. Design Ownership : Create high-level and low-level design documents, incorporating key functional, non-functional and security requirements. Risk Management : Identify and manage technical and solution risks, working proactively to mitigate them. Stakeholder Engagement : Ensure all stakeholders understand the solution design and provide clarity where needed. Documentation & Review : Maintain up-to-date solution documentation and participate in design walkthroughs. Project Coordination : Manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes. What You’ll Bring Experience designing solutions (high and low level) for enterprise applications using Angular UI, REST APIs (OpenAPI), Spring Boot Microservices, Java/J2EE, and C++ Experience in working with SQL and NoSQL databases; Couchbase experience preferred Experience with messaging and event-driven architectures (e.g., ActiveMQ, Kafka) Experience with Cloudera Big Data systems and secure system design Proven ability to work in multi-vendor, diverse onshore teams in a dynamic and complex environment Why Join Skillfield?
