The key duties of the position include The Role Surveillance Intelligence and Life-Support Systems Program Office (SILSPO) is newly established and seeking a highly professional and motivated Contract Officer to join our Commercial team. The Contract Officer will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex contracting work within an integrated workforce. You will be accountable to ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements. Duties include Provision of advice and support to procurement planning, tendering and contract formation and contract management activities while ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures. Providing guidance, advice and services during the procurement lifecycle on contracting activities including coordination of legal and financial services. Drafting and reviewing contracting correspondence including complex, commercially sensitive reports, submissions, contract change proposals and other documents as required. Understand and provide advice on commercial risk, legal principles and contractual performance requirements. Application of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework to complex commercial issues and recommend solutions to meet business objectives. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team SILSPO is the acquisition and sustainment agency for leading edge Surveillance and Intelligence an, Aeronautical Life Support capability. We acquire, integrate and transition into service capabilities that provide the joint force with a warfighting advantage. SILSPO is currently responsible for the acquisition, integration and provision of through-life support to both the MC-55A Peregrine and Aeronautical Life Support Equipment. The materiel we acquire includes aerial systems and ground control segments, simulator and training systems, and associated infrastructure and support. SILSPO is also responsible for the integration of all elements of the Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC), to ensure seamless transition to service of the acquired capability, enabling achievement of Initial Operational Capability (IOC), and Final Operational Capability (FOC) on time and on budget.
