Our client is a major national infrastructure contractor delivering complex rail, civil and utilities projects across Victoria. About the Role A Defects & Handover Manager is now required to take ownership of the project completion phase on a major rail infrastructure program. This role oversees the full defects lifecycle and the end-to-end handover process, ensuring the project is accepted by the client and relevant operators to the required standards. You will coordinate inspections, manage documentation, oversee defect rectification, and work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from construction into operational readiness. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and execution of the project handover strategy. Manage the preparation and submission of final documentation (as-builts, O&M manuals, certifications, warranties). Coordinate inspections, walkthroughs, and acceptance activities with client and operators. Oversee defect identification, logging, tracking, and close-out. Liaise with subcontractors to ensure timely rectification and verify completed works. Maintain an accurate defects register and monitor completion timeframes. Provide regular reporting on handover progress, risks, and outstanding issues. Ensure compliance with all contractual, quality, and regulatory obligations. Build strong working relationships with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in completions and handover processes. Requirements Experience managing defects and handover on large-scale construction or rail projects. Strong understanding of quality systems, completions frameworks, and documentation requirements. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields. Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and work streams. Skilled in issue resolution, planning, and risk management. Proficient in defects tracking systems and project reporting tools.
