About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres. About the Division The International Education and Partnership Division (IEPD) provides strategic advice and sector-level support for some of the department's key functions and obligations in relation to international education, the non-government school sector and the use of animals in teaching (joining the division from December 2024). The division develops and maintains strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders in different education sectors and levels of government and carries out regulatory functions and responsibilities under various Acts to ensure compliance in Victorian schools. About the Role This is a Part Time, Fixed Term role until 18 September 2026. The Program Adviser contributes towards the delivery of programs and initiatives within the Internationalisation Unit, (IEU) International Education Division (IED) by providing guidance and strategic support throughout the program lifecycle, including undertaking procurement activities, while ensuring alignment with objectives in the Global Learning and Engagement Strategy 2024-2027. Programs within the unit explore GL&E opportunities including student programs and teacher/ school leader professional learning that aim to connect Victorian students to the world. Attributes The position requires a capable and solutions-focused professional with strong operational and program management skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound decision-making abilities, particularly in resolving service delivery challenges and aligning day-to-day activities with broader strategic objectives. Effective communication is essential, including the ability to convey complex concepts, prepare high-quality written materials, and engage staff and stakeholders through negotiation and influence. A collaborative approach is key, with the ability to contribute subject matter expertise, coordinate project delivery, and work across teams to achieve shared outcomes. The role also requires strong stakeholder management skills, with a focus on building positive relationships, responding to client needs, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
