Rare opportunity for an experienced Architect with 5 years of experience to work alongside the Sole Director in their new studio based in the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Must have a solid background in residential work, including new homes, renovations and extensions up to $5M into larger scale apartment and townhouse developments. Responsibilities will be broadly based but strong ArchiCAD proficiency is key! Despite working in a number of Tier 1 studios throughout his career, this Director maintains an “old school” approach in terms of early design -stage free hand design, so complimentary skills in this area would be ideal. You’ll be involved in a broad range of tasks including design, planning, all stages of documentation, some interior work, landscape plans, liaising with clients and consultants and attending site. Skills, Experience and Attributes 5-10 years post graduate experience Registered Architect highly sought (but not essential) Highly proficient in ArchiCAD, plus AutoCAD and Adobe CS Strong technical and construction detailing skills with experience onsite Knowledge of local codes and regulations for residential builds Solid coordination skills and capacity to liaise with clients, consultants, builders, planning officers Exceptional communication, coordination and organisational skills Professional, confident, trustworthy, reliable and personable With some projects based interstate, such as Perth and Tasmania, the Director won’t always be in the office, so it’s essential that you’re capable of making decisions when necessary and working autonomously. References that confirm you’re trustworthy, reliable, mature and responsible will be essential. Based in the inner eastern suburbs, close to a train station and with parking available onsite, this boutique studio has an abundance of work underway, and the Director has a clear plan to grow the team in the next few years. Position is being offered on a permanent basis in the range of $80,000 - $100,000 plus Superannuation, dependent on your level of experience. Available for an immediate or early January 2026 start, be sure to send through your comprehensive, well-rounded portfolio and we’ll be in touch!
