About Us Andromeda Robotics is an ambitious social robotics company with offices in Melbourne and San Francisco, dedicated to creating robots that seamlessly and intelligently interact with the human world. Our first robot, Abi, is a testament to this vision—a custom-built platform designed from the ground up to be a helpful aid and intuitive partner in aged care homes. We are a passionate, collaborative team of engineers who solve some of the most challenging problems in AI and robotics. Our Values Empathy - Kindness and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. Play - Play sharpens focus. It keeps us curious, fast and obsessed with the craft. Never Settle- A relentless ambition, bias toward action, and uncomfortable levels of curiosity. Tenacity - Tenacious under pressure, we assume chaos and stay in motion to adapt and progress. Unity - Different minds. Shared mission. No passengers. What You’ll Do We are seeking an Assembly & Manufacturing Manager to manage the hands-on assembly, quality control, and process documentation for our initial robot builds. This role is perfect for a self-starter and hands-on builder who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to build a manufacturing foundation from the ground up. You will be responsible for turning engineering designs into reliable, high-quality robots. This is an opportunity to be the first person to own the manufacturing process, making a direct and immediate impact on product delivery and company growth. Key Responsibilities Manage a small assembly and manufacturing team Manage and train a small team that performs hands-on assembly of complex electromechanical components, sub-assemblies, and final products following engineering drawings (BOMs, schematics, and CAD models). Manage the operation and maintenance of necessary tools and equipment for small-scale production runs. Manage inventory of components and materials required for assembly, ensuring timely procurement coordination with the engineering team. Determine resourcing needs, including if part-time assembly technicians are needed to meet uneven product demand. Schedule and prioritize assembly tasks to meet aggressive product delivery deadlines. Ensure a safe and organised workspace following all relevant safety protocols. Process development & documentation Create, document, and maintain clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for all assembly and manufacturing tasks. Collaborate closely with the Engineering team to provide feedback on design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA). Design and implement basic assembly fixtures or jigs to improve efficiency and consistency. Quality control & inspection Institute and execute a robust Quality Control (QC) program, including critical inspection points, functional testing, and final quality assurance checks. Document non-conforming parts/assemblies and work with Engineering and Supply Chain to implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA). Maintain accurate records of all build and QC data.
