The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come. Australia's acquisition of SSN capability is a complex, multi-decade national endeavour. The future SSNs will be based on the UK's next-generation design and incorporate advanced technologies from all three nations. These submarines will be constructed in Adelaide, requiring significant investment in shipyard infrastructure and supporting facilities. The South Australian Infrastructure Branch within the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) plays a critical role in planning and delivering the infrastructure required to support SSN-AUKUS construction and sustainment. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to contribute to one of the largest and most influential capability programs in Australia's history. As an APS 6 Project Manager, you will actively contribute to this whole-of-nation effort. Your responsibilities will include managing and coordinating infrastructure projects, translating policy into actionable programs, and assisting in the development of new capabilities. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and program milestones. The duties of an APS 6 Project Manager include: Manage and coordinate infrastructure project activities, ensuring alignment with organisational standards, engineering requirements, and project complexity. Oversee project schedules, risk registers, budgets, and resource allocations, and prepare detailed briefings, submissions, and progress reports in accordance with governance frameworks. Apply established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies Identify and assess infrastructure-related risks and opportunities, incorporating these into planning, prioritisation, and decision-making processes. Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, including contractors, industry partners, and government agencies, with the ability to communicate effectively and negotiate outcomes. Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, fostering effective working relationships and contributing to collective problem-solving. Monitor and analyse infrastructure project performance against approved plans, and develop strategies to address variances and achieve objectives. Resolve technical and delivery issues by evaluating alternative solutions and assessing their implications for cost, schedule, and compliance. Contribute to the development of infrastructure planning documents, including cost estimates, schedules, work breakdown structures, and performance reports. Prepare high-quality correspondence, briefs, and reports, including submissions for senior leadership and governance committees. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policy, engineering standards, and regulatory frameworks throughout all phases of infrastructure delivery. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in ASA as a Building Capability Payment (BCP). This enables ASA to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the ASA Enterprise Agreement, for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to ASA capability.
