About Our Client: Our client is a specialist risk and safety consultancy with 21 years’ experience across oil and gas, chemical processing, renewables, mining, and major infrastructure. Our client works with high-profile Australian and international clients, delivering hazard studies, quantitative risk assessments (QRAs), and technical safety solutions. About the Role: Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineer to deliver technical risk and safety assessments across a range of industrial projects. You will work closely with Directors, Principals, Senior Engineers, and junior staff, taking responsibility for key technical deliverables and client engagement. Key responsibilities include: Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment studies (HAZID, RA) Prepare and facilitate risk workshops with clients Lead QRAs and Formal Safety Assessment studies (fire safety, LOPA) Undertake technical safety studies such as FHA/PHA, FSS, SIL studies, and Safety Case inputs Analyse and interpret consequence modelling and risk profiles (PHAST, Effects, RiskCurves) Review numerical analysis and provide guidance to graduates and contractors Support mentoring and development of junior engineers Contribute to client communications and project reporting Assist in business development and new project opportunities as needed More Information: Employment type: Permanent, full-time Location: Chatswood, Sydney Working arrangement: Office-based during probation; 1 day WFH per week thereafter Travel: Occasional client site visits in Australia; some international travel possible Visa: Must have full working rights in Australia Career progression: Potential to mentor, take on leadership, and grow within technical or client-facing roles Requirements About You: Experience & Qualifications: 6–10 years in risk, process safety, or similar engineering roles (exceptional candidates with 5 years may be considered) Proven experience delivering hazard studies, risk assessments, and workshops Experience leading QRAs and technical safety assessments Skilled in consequence modelling and interpretation of risk outputs Proficient in BowTieXP and other risk modelling tools (PHAST, Effects, RiskCurves) Strong numerical analysis, problem-solving, and technical writing skills Bachelor of Engineering (ideally chemical); postgraduate study in process safety or risk management advantageous Familiarity with PSM standards and major hazard regulatory frameworks (MHF, NOPSEMA, COMAH, etc.) Attributes: Clear communicator with excellent English Adaptable, collaborative, and confident in client-facing situations Comfortable mentoring junior staff and guiding project teams Analytical thinker with hands-on technical skills
