The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service & Partnerships (QPWS&P) is on the lookout for an enthusiastic, motivated Fire Support Officer to lead the Fire Management Support function within our Northern Regional Fire Team. This is your chance to help guide fire management across some of the most spectacular landscapes in the state, from rugged savannahs to lush rainforests and remote ranger bases.In this dynamic role, you'll help deliver the Northern Region Fire Program, ensuring our work meets all legislative responsibilities, including the Queensland Bushfire Plan, and aligns with the national best practice PPRR framework: Preparedness, Prevention, Response and Recovery. You'll be right at the centre of fire management action, shaping planned burns, coordinating fire operations, supporting bushfire response and helping our people stay skilled, confident and ready for anything through training, exercises and hands-on development. You'll also take the lead on driving improvement and innovation. Your work will support the region's lessons management program, guide fire-funded projects, maintain specialised plant and equipment and help ensure our governance and reporting remain rock solid. Your influence will reach across the region, helping QPWS&P deliver safe, smart and effective fire management outcomes. A huge part of this job is people, collaboration, teamwork and partnerships. You'll work closely with the Queensland Fire Department, First Nations communities, local partners and land managers to build lasting relationships that strengthen how we plan for, prevent and respond to fire. You'll represent QPWS&P in internal governance groups and external fire forums, making your voice count in important conversations that shape regional fire strategies. You won't just be behind a desk, you'll be out in the field, in the thick of our remote landscapes, working alongside passionate Rangers and fire specialists. Whether you're planning a strategic burn, inspecting equipment in a shed on the edge of the outback or meeting with partners to build better fire outcomes, no two days will ever look the same. The location for this role is flexible across the Northern Region, giving you the chance to base yourself in some of Queensland's most iconic and adventure-filled areas. Travel, including overnight stays, will be part of the journey, helping you connect with teams across the region and experience the incredible country we work so hard to protect.
