About the Senior Legal Counsel This role will partner closely with the Tech, Product Data/AI & Security functions to support a more proactive approach to manage legal and regulatory risk in each of these departments. What you will do Provide commercially focused and pragmatic advice to our business clients on a wide range technology related matters and initiatives in a supportive and dynamic team environment. Support revenue growth by drafting, advising and negotiating commercial and technology agreements, ensuring that contractual terms align with PwC’s commercial objectives and compliance requirements. Contribute to the development and negotiation of strategic alliances, collaboration agreements and technology partnerships that underpin SiteMinder’s business model. Support the implementation of governance frameworks and policies that manage legal and operational risk in a technology and product -enabled environment, including data and AI governance frameworks. Experience advising on cybersecurity preparedness, incident response, data protection, privacy, spam, surveillance, and regulatory investigations. Provide product, engineering, technology, security, data and AI and other business teams, partnering from the earliest possible discussions, to provide pragmatic legal advice across many subject areas including data protection laws and regulations, international competition law frameworks, intellectual property laws, marketing laws and regulations, and other global legal frameworks. You are a generalist with sufficient genuine depth in these key areas that typically requires specialists. Able to read architecture diagrams, understand data flows, ask meaningful questions about system design, and recognize when engineering decisions have legal implications. You can spot issues that need to be flagged. Able to operate in grey zones where legal questions don’t have clear answers, providing risk calibrated guidance to help the business move forward. You will partner deeply with technology, data and security teams to work at the intersection of law, business and emerging technologies. What you have Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current practicing certificate. At least ten years experience, ideally from top-tier practice experience and in-house tech or data sector experience At least seven years experience advising on data governance and commercialisation, IT and commercial transactions, with at least four years of experience on cyber law, and demonstrable knowledge of AI Strong understanding of GDPR, Australian privacy law and global governance and AI regulatory frameworks Exposure to financial Must be a self starter with high energy and a proven ability to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
