Description Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network. The Senior Lead, Regulatory Affairs, APAC will be the external point of contact for Amazon Leo's service compliance obligation deliverables in front of telecommunications regulators and other stakeholders in countries throughout the APAC region. This role will use their specific knowledge of communications regulation to advance Amazon Leo's regulatory interests by coordinating complex compliance filings, maintaining effective lines-of-communication with relevant regulatory bodies and policy makers, and developing mechanisms to ensure scalability. This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations. Key job responsibilities Key job responsibilities include: Interface directly with regulators and policy makers in countries throughout the APAC region to drive Amazon Leo's compliance strategy and perform advocacy consistent with Amazon Leo's priorities. Develop and optimize mechanisms to ensure accurate and timely filing of complex Communications Service Provider (CSP) compliance filings. Align with Regulatory, Compliance, Legal, Public Policy, and Global Expansions on strategy for CSP compliance matters. Drive timely and accurate compliance filings related to regulatory obligations that arise as a result of Amazon Leo's status as a CSP (e.g., revenue reporting, subscriber reports, outage reporting, customer complaints, etc.). * Coordinate across Amazon Leo's entities, and across Amazon at large, to address the unique nature of Amazon Leo's operating as a CSP. A day in the life You will be responsible for communicating with regulators and other stakeholders on regulatory compliance matters, shaping national, regional and international regulations affecting NGSO communications systems. You will define and lead the regulatory compliance agenda to allow service, and collaborate with trade associations, government agencies, multilateral organizations, and other operators to shape rules and regulations in the best interest of our customers. You will work with business, technical and operations teams, as well as with Public Policy, Public Relations and Legal teams, to enhance the overall regulatory compliance strategy in priority countries, and work closely with regulatory country leads, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), and other teams to ensure alignment on a country and regional basis. You will anticipate bottlenecks and communicate risks clearly to leaders, escalating effectively, removing blockers, and delivering results. About the team The Regulatory team enables and protects Amazon Leo's use of radio frequency spectrum and satellite orbital worldwide, defining and leading the regulatory agenda to benefit our customers. We operate globally, engaging with international, regional/sub-regional regulatory organizations, regulatory authorities, and governments. We obtain and maintain the required ITU filings and licenses for Amazon Leo's operations, coordinate spectrum use with other operators, and shape/promote space safety and sustainability. We are responsible for the licensing of facilities and services, and advocate for rules and regulations in the best interest of our customers, working with governments, trade associations, and operators. We work with the design, operational, and business teams to promote alignment between business objectives, the Program of Record, and regulatory and compliance requirements for delivery of service.
