About the Role Based in BYD's Melbourne office in Mulgrave, the Internal Fleet & Used Car Specialist is responsible for managing BYD and Denza internal fleet operations across relevant departments and supporting the used vehicle remarketing program. This role ensures efficient utilisation of company vehicles and maximises residual values with a view to a future certified pre-owned strategy. It acts as the bridge between BYD/Denza, dealer network, and remarketing channels to maintain operational excellence and brand integrity throughout the vehicle lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: 1. Internal Fleet Management Manage the internal fleet, including company cars, evaluation vehicles, press/test fleet, and pool vehicles. Oversee vehicle allocation, ordering, capitalizing, registration, maintenance, and disposal in accordance with company policy. Maintain accurate fleet records, ensuring compliance with compliance, taxation, insurance, and safety requirements. Coordinate with internal departments (Marketing, Product Planning, Engineering) for short- and long-term vehicle requirements. Analyse fleet utilisation and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and cost control. 2. Used Vehicle & Remarketing Operations Create and manage a used car strategy, including certified pre-owned (CPO) and remarketing initiatives. Manage the disposal process for internal and ex-fleet vehicles via dealer auction, or wholesale channels. Monitor market values, residuals, and performance of used vehicles to optimise pricing and retention. Collaborate with finance, sales, and dealer network teams to maintain strong resale performance and minimise depreciation losses. Ensure consistent brand representation and vehicle quality in the used car market. 3. Data, Reporting & Compliance Develop and maintain fleet and remarketing databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Provide monthly reporting on fleet utilisation, costs, residual performance, and stock turnover. Ensure compliance with all internal policies, tax laws, and data privacy regulations. Liaise with finance and procurement teams for budgeting, forecasting, and asset management reporting. 4. Stakeholder & Dealer Engagement Work closely with dealer partners to support used car programs, training, and best practices. Coordinate with logistics, marketing, and sales teams to align fleet and remarketing activities with new vehicle campaigns. Manage third-party suppliers such as transport, auction, and fleet management providers . Act as the internal subject matter expert for used car lifecycle management. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Automotive Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3 years of experience in fleet management, remarketing, or used vehicle operations within an OEM, distributor, or large dealer group. Strong understanding of vehicle lifecycle management, residual value forecasting, and fleet utilisation. Experience with fleet management software, ERP, or CRM systems. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or similar reporting tools. Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
