Food Rescue & Relief Coordinator - Riverina NSW Foodbank NSW & ACT is seeking a values driven Food Rescue and Relief Coordinator to strengthen local partnerships, expand food rescue initiatives and support communities across the Riverina region through effective and compassionate food relief. Through strong partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, schools, and place-based community organisations, Foodbank provides over 337,000 households each month with essential groceries and nutritious meals. Despite the size of its operations, Foodbank currently meets only half the need. The Impact of the Role As the Food Rescue and Relief Coordinator, you will play a central role in strengthening Foodbank’s reach and impact across the Riverina. Working closely with food retailers, manufacturers, schools, charities, First Nations communities and culturally diverse groups, you will build trusted relationships that support households experiencing food insecurity. You will coordinate food rescue operations, facilitate donations of surplus food and support community partners in distributing nutritious groceries to those who need them most. Your work will directly improve access to food across the region, from day-to-day outreach to targeted responses during emergencies. This is a hands on, community facing position where you will help shape the future of food relief in one of NSW’s key regional areas. Key Responsibilities Map food retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, schools, charities, community groups, First Nations communities and culturally diverse communities across the Riverina. Develop and manage relationships with food retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers to secure regular surplus food donations. Build and strengthen partnerships with community organisations involved in distributing rescued food. Coordinate pick up, transport and unloading of rescued food to community partners, ensuring safe handling and compliance. Review and oversee the purchase of infrastructure to support food rescue and relief across the region. Represent Foodbank at community events, meetings and forums. Support pop-up outreach sessions that improve access to food for communities experiencing disadvantage. Educate food industry partners on the environmental benefits of food donation. Monitor and report on food rescue volumes, donation sources and program outcomes in line with funder expectations. Gather community and industry feedback to help shape future food rescue activities. Ensure safe food handling, including maintenance of a refrigerated vehicle and appropriate food safety standards. Collaborate with internal teams, including Fundraising, Support Services and Operations. About You You bring a practical, community minded approach to your work and are motivated by making a difference. You build rapport easily, enjoy being out in the community and thrive in a role where no two days look the same.
