Salary Super Salary Packaging Benefits About the role This position is a 24/7 service and requires employees to be available for day, afternoon, active night, weekend and public holiday shifts. The Family Support Worker provides collaborative and specialist support to provide family violence support and holistic support to women and children escaping family violence within a crisis, and refuge setting. The Family Support Worker will provide specialist family violence risk support to women and children escaping family and domestic violence, provide holistic, culturally safe, client led support across a range of areas including safety, independence, well-being, housing, social inclusion, and employment, work collaboratively with a range of services and stakeholders to support women and children reach their goals. This is a Full-Time/Part Time/Casual opportunity based in Port Hedland, WA within the Hedland Women's Refuge. The position reports to the Coordinator, Hedland Women's Refuge. Key Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, the incumbent will have: A combination of study and/or experience in the area of community services or family and domestic violence, including Aboriginal people with lived and professional experience. A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families. Ability to participate collaboratively and constructively within teams of peers, staff, and other stakeholders, as well as initiative and effective personal judgement when working alone. Knowledge of the impact of trauma and vulnerability in women and children who have experienced Family violence. An understanding of cultural safety, attachment, trauma, and child development.
