About the Company Our client is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to join their team based in Orbost as a casual full-time Biodiversity Field Officer. The state government managed biodiversity project team have been operating for over 15 years, aiming to effectively control foxes across one million hectares of public land in Far East Gippsland for the benefit of native wildlife, and to monitor the response of the wildlife to fox control. About the Role As the Biodiversity Field Officer, you will be responsible for delivering field activities that support the conservation project. Based in Orbost, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding biodiversity in East Gippsland. Your primary focus will be on implementing actions identified in the Weeds and Pests on Public Land Adaptive Management and Performance Reporting Plan (AMPR) funding agreement, specifically targeting fox control and wildlife recovery projects. The successful candidate will be employed on a labour hire arrangement via GBS Recruitment and will be paid a casual hourly rate of $35.95. Responsibilities Execute biodiversity management programs, including fox control by burying fox baits in maintained bait stations and conducting wildlife monitoring programs using camera trapping and cage tapping techniques. Collect and record field data accurately. Support the planning, administration, logistics, and fieldwork components of biodiversity projects and actively contribute to the effective functioning of the biodiversity project delivery team and Natural Environment Programs branch. Foster a positive, open, and delivery-focused culture based on collaboration, accountability, and trust. Practice cultural safety by creating inclusive environments that are free from racism and discrimination.
