The key duties of the position include The Role Defence is seeking high performing individuals to conduct technical security inspections, provide technical security advice and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team. The successful applicant will regularly use a wide range of electronic equipment and machinery, will employ physical searching techniques and their technical knowledge to ensure Defence platforms and sites are protected from technical security threats and vulnerabilities. They will also need to analyse potential methods that adversaries may use to compromise a Defence facility and reverse engineer the appropriate protective security measures. TSCM Officers also provide security advice around existing technical threats and will use risk-based principles and expert knowledge of device capabilities to protect Defence and its assets and information. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team The TSCM Operations team sits with Defence Security Division in Security and Estate Group. It is a high-tempo team that conducts technical security operations at Defence locations across Australia and internationally. Technical security operations identify technical threats and vulnerabilities and provide assurance that a particular area is not subject to covert technical surveillance operations. They are also the touchpoint for all of Defence's technical security capabilities. Successful candidates will get to work alongside civilian and military personnel who work together to secure Defence information from adversaries in an evolving threat environment. Team members travel routinely and engage with all areas of Defence and Defence Industry partners as well as other government agencies.
