About the opportunity The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring, interpreting and responding to Townsville HHS closed circuit television (CCTV) system, electronic security access system, duress and fire protection systems. The Health Security Department provides a broad range of physical and personal security services and support functions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all staff, patients/carers, and visitors across all Townsville HHS facilities and sites. The department undertakes rostered service delivery and emergency response services at the Townsville University Hospital and designated facilities (Kirwan Community Health Campus and Joyce Palmer Health Service (JPHS) on Palm Island). The Health Security Department Control Room is located at the Townsville University Hospital and is manned 24-hours. (OO3) 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading Locality allowance 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available Requirements: Whilst not mandatory, possession of a Certificate III in Security Operations or equivelant or higher would be well regarded. Whilst not mandatory a current security licence would be well regarded. The successful candidate will be required to participate in a continuous shift (24 hour) roster, 7 days a week. There will be a requirement to work weekends and public holidays. The successful candidate will be required to perform duties in the Emergency Department, Mental Health units and other areas throughout the Townsville HHS. The successful candidate must adhere to a strict uniform and appearance policy. The successful candidate must disclose in writing any pre-existing injury or medical condition in accordance with the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act It is a requirement for the successful applicant to undertake a functional capacity assessment prior to commencement. The successful candidate must possess a high level of self-control, emotional stability and be prepared to encounter potentially traumatic incidents (e.g. viewing deceased patients, physically handling a frail elderly). * This is a VPD risk role.
