Description About the Role DP World is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Mechanical Officer to join the Engineering team at our Port Botany Terminal. This is a key support role focused on coordinating and overseeing day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities across the terminal. As a Mechanical Officer, you’ll play a critical role in the smooth running of terminal operations by supporting the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance works. You’ll be responsible for managing Maximo work orders, coordinating parts and labour, and liaising with internal teams and external contractors to ensure mechanical reliability and compliance. Key Accountabilities Review and close out maintenance work using Maximo CMMS Support the Planning & Scheduling Superintendent with resource coordination Ensure compliance with OEM and statutory maintenance standards Liaise with trades, contractors, and suppliers to arrange timely maintenance Conduct reviews and analysis of maintenance data and propose improvements Support environmental safety and disposal compliance Prepare reports and assist with planning meetings and performance tracking Qualifications, Skills and Experience Trade or engineering qualification in mechanical discipline Strong knowledge of maintenance systems and workshop operations Experience using CMMS (Maximo preferred) and maintenance planning tools Sound written and verbal communication skills Strong computer literacy, especially in Excel and Word Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions Familiarity with WHS legislation and risk management procedures Experience in expenditure control and procurement for maintenance Prior exposure to container terminal or similar industrial environments About DP World DP World is reshaping the future of global trade to improve lives everywhere. Responsibilities Review and analyze regular maintenance data for reports, ensuring timely data entry. Organize resources for significant repair and maintenance tasks, including parts, labor, tools, and equipment. Utilize the Maximo Maintenance Management System to arrange and close out maintenance work, including parts procurement. Work with the Reliability Superintendent to ensure maintenance schedules meet OEM and statutory standards. Effectively plan and review short- and long-term maintenance activities, reporting to the Planning/Scheduling Superintendent. Liaise with contractors to implement maintenance plans and identify potential problem areas in equipment maintenance. Achieve KPI targets for site equipment availability, MTBF, and repair turnaround times. Review and create effective work procedures in collaboration with the Reliability Superintendent. Ensure breakdown information is clarified and corrected, and maintain OEM and statutory compliance. Qualifications Trade or engineering qualification in mechanical is required. Experience with maintenance management software applications is essential. Strong knowledge and ability in expenditure control for maintenance activities. Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to work independently, making sound, logical decisions. Current knowledge and experience with WHS & Acts, regulations, and codes of practice. Familiarity with maintenance workshop processes and equipment, as well as CMMS Systems, Work Orders, Plant database, Stores, and Purchasing modules. Maintenance systems knowledge, technical, and administrative skills, with the ability to think logically and adapt to new technology. Extensive knowledge of maintenance systems, plant equipment, techniques, and equipment (scheduled and unscheduled). Working knowledge of related legislation, plant and equipment regulations, and risk management procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to collate data and produce reports.
