Sport Services and Facilities Coordinator Ability to lead customer service teams through clear communication and inclusive leadership Demonstrated experience in the management of sporting facilities Full time, ongoing role based in Hobart About the opportunity The Sport Services and Facilities Coordinator plays a key role in Campus Life, supporting the University’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success through sport. Reporting to the Head of Sport, this position helps deliver the University Sport Strategy (2026–2030) and fosters healthy, connected campus communities. The role coordinates customer service and facility operations across indoor and outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, inclusive, and fit-for-purpose. Working closely with Unigym Coordinators and Campus Services, the Coordinator oversees member-focused services, staff development, and the promotion of sport facilities. Responsibilities include rostering, contracts, reporting, and marketing to students, staff, and the wider community. Flexibility to work outside normal hours and a proactive, solutions-focused approach are essential. What you’ll do: Cultivate a High-Performing Team Culture: Lead the customer service team through clear communication, defined performance expectations, and inclusive management that reflects university values. Oversee Facility Operations & Compliance: Manage daily operations of indoor and outdoor university sport facilities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and wellbeing standards, while maintaining high service quality. Enhance User Experience & Engagement: Coordinate bookings and recreational programs using facility management systems to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences for students, staff, and community members. Support Capital Works & Facility Upgrades: Contribute to planning and delivery of facility improvements and capital projects that align with member expectations and university service standards. Drive Continuous Improvement & Impact Reporting: Develop systems and initiatives that improve operational efficiency, increase participation, and enable data collection for reporting on the impact of sport and recreation activities. What we’re looking for: Experience in the sport sector, with expertise in operating multi-site sports centres, managing indoor and outdoor facilities, and delivering a range of gym services. Proven ability to manage a customer-service team and create a positive working environment that supports quality service delivery and achievement of objectives. Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, relevant legislation, sector best practice, and policy frameworks for sport facility operations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, with experience managing diverse stakeholder groups and handling complaints and service recovery. Competence in systems and data analysis, including tracking member information against KPIs, preparing reports and briefing papers, and managing policies, contracts, risk analysis, and minor works/capital bids. Salary details Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 plus 17% superannuation.
