Through strong partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, schools, and place-based community organisations, Foodbank provides over 337,000 households each month with essential groceries and nutritious meals. Despite the size of its operations, Foodbank currently meets only half the need. The Impact of the Role As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a key role in strengthening Foodbank’s connections with local communities and ensuring equitable access to food relief and support programs across Southern Sydney and Southern NSW. Working closely with schools, charities, councils, and community organisations, you’ll help deliver programs that not only provide nourishment but also build local capacity and resilience. You’ll represent Foodbank at events, support schools through the Breakfast 4 Health Program, and collaborate with partners to ensure culturally responsive food relief during both everyday operations and times of crisis. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference by engaging directly with communities and helping shape how Foodbank responds to local needs. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement community engagement plans with schools, charities, councils, First Nations and multicultural communities, and local MPs. Strengthen relationships with community partners, assessing needs, gathering feedback, and ensuring compliance with Foodbank requirements. Support the delivery and coordination of the Breakfast 4 Health Program, ensuring consistent access to nutritious food for students. Recruit and onboard new community partners and schools to expand Foodbank’s reach. Coordinate pop-up outreach sessions to provide timely and culturally appropriate food relief. Represent Foodbank at community events, meetings, and forums to increase visibility and impact. Collaborate internally with Fundraising, Support Services, and Operations teams to align engagement activities. Assist in coordinating emergency food relief responses during disasters across Southern NSW. Track and report on engagement activities, outcomes, and community feedback to inform future strategy. About You You are a positive, community-minded professional with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to social impact. You thrive in collaborative environments, build trust easily, and take initiative to deliver meaningful outcomes. You will bring: Relevant qualifications in community development or equivalent experience in community engagement or outreach. Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government, schools, and community groups. Demonstrated interest in addressing food insecurity, disadvantage, or related social issues. Strong cultural awareness and experience engaging respectfully with First Nations and culturally diverse communities. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in public and community settings. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Competence in Microsoft Office and CRM/data management systems. Willingness to work from Glendening two days per week, with the availability to travel across Southern NSW for at least one week each month (and at short notice during emergencies). A current NSW Driver’s Licence, along with a willingness to obtain a NSW Working With Children Check, National Police Check, and undergo medical clearance as part of pre-employment screening.
