Job Description An Oracle Data Centre & Field Support Engineer acts as the technical liaison between technology teams, the Data Centre environment, and on-prem customer operations. You will troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues across both environments, provide on-site technical support, and maintain high standards of service delivery and process compliance. As a skilled troubleshooter across a wide range of systems, you'll know when to escalate, when to innovate, and how to simplify. You'll execute projects independently, collaborate on larger initiatives, and continuously improve processes with automation and efficiency in mind. Ideal candidates need to be familiar with the following: - Strong background in Linux administration and troubleshooting. - Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, containment). - Experience providing on-prem field support, including installations, break/fix, and upgrades. - Responsible for a shift in a 24/7/365 working environment, including rostered on-call support. - Solid understanding of the Data Centre ecosystem (cooling, electrical, networking, and structured cabling). - Proficiency in performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and OS installations. - Excellent communication and customer interaction skills, with strong adherence to process and documentation. Responsibilities Responsibilities and Requirements - Ability to understand internal customer problems and provide timely technical solutions. - Ability to assess and manage customer urgency and problem sensitivity effectively. - Confident communicator who can clearly and professionally interact with internal and external customers. - Ability to work within demanding operational environments while maintaining customer satisfaction. - Strong adherence to process and commitment to being a process champion. - Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware and software. - Perform racking, stacking, cabling, deployment, and decommissioning of IT infrastructure within the data centre. - Provide on-prem field support for Oracle systems, including installations, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement. - Manage escalated 2nd-level technical support cases, coordinating with internal teams or third-party vendors to resolution. - Support server OS and application upgrades, patching, and bug fixes. - Maintain accurate asset records, documentation, and change control for supported environments. - Work on standardization projects for both hardware and software under the Oracle technology stack to ensure consistency and reliability across IaaS environments. - Execute small-scale projects independently and support larger multi-site initiatives in collaboration with management. - Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives aimed at simplification and efficiency.
