Full-time Building Associate position available in Bankstown, NSW 2200 NSW Building & Civil is a Sydney-based civil contractor delivering asphalt roads & carparks, footpaths/kerb & gutter, road construction, stormwater drainage, paving, restorations and school/playground upgrades across Greater Sydney and regional NSW. Our project managers, engineers and site crews work closely to plan, stage and deliver safe, compliant and high-quality works for councils, builders and private clients. On behalf of NSW Building & Civil, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Building Associate to join the team on a full-time basis and support their continued growth. In this role, you'll supervise day-to-day delivery on active work fronts, coordinate trades, plant and materials, interpret drawings and codes, and drive safety, quality and program outcomes—turning plans into finished civil assets that meet their workmanship, compliance and stakeholder standards. Position Responsibilities and Tasks: Support the Project/Construction Manager to plan and organise daily workfronts, labour, plant and logistics across public-domain and small-structure projects. Serve as primary site supervisor/foreman—lead teams and coordinate subcontractors, plant and site logistics in live public environments. Read and apply drawings, specifications, the NCC/BCA (as relevant) and Australian Standards; raise and track RFIs. Set out and verify lines/levels and dimensions for structural elements, services interfaces and finishes; coordinate certifier/inspector visits and inspection hold points. Build and maintain 1-3 week look-ahead programs; sequence structure → services rough-in → close-up → finishes to meet milestones while maintaining pedestrian/traffic access. Coordinate building trades (formwork/concrete/steel, carpentry, cladding/glazing, internal finishes) and services interfaces (electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/fire); manage just-in-time deliveries. Prepare basic quantities/take-offs; assist with scopes, quotes and supplier/subcontractor comparisons to support procurement. Track schedule, costs and productivity; reconcile delivery dockets and hire records; contribute to progress claims, variations and RFI/defect registers. Implement QA/ITPs and hold points (e.g., rebar, formwork, waterproofing, services pressure tests, fire-stopping); maintain conformance records and test results. Check workmanship/materials against project specs, standards and client requirements; close out NCRs and manage defect lists through re-inspection. Lead WHS & environmental controls: site inductions, pre-starts/toolboxes, SWMS compliance, temporary works permits, traffic/pedestrian interface, dust/sediment measures. Liaise with clients, councils, residents and schools; coordinate permits and approvals (building/road-occupancy), Dial-Before-You-Dig/service proving and TMP staging. Compile as-builts, O&M inputs, warranties and compliance certificates; assemble handover packs and support occupancy/permit close-out. Provide clear daily/weekly updates to the Project/Construction Manager; keep accurate site diaries and photo records. Qualifications and Skills: Diploma in Building and Construction (or equivalent) At least 1 year of proven work experience as a Building Associate or civil/site supervision Strong WHS/QA knowledge; competent with basic set-out and levels Problem-solving under time constraints; escalation and decision making Crew leadership and subcontractor coordination on live work zones Ability to read/interrogate building and civil drawings, specs and codes; produce mark-ups and RFIs Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between $77,000 - $90,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
