About the role The Collection Management Branch is responsible for transferring, storing, preserving and digitising the National Archives' collection so it remains accessible for future generations. The Branch develops policies and systems as well as provides services, undertakes research, and implements projects to ensure the care, management and accessibility of archival records. The Branch is also responsible for identifying information management requirements for Australian Government agencies to ensure Australian Government information assets (records, information and data) are created, collected and managed effectively. The Digitisation Services section provides leadership to the National Archives digitisation function. This includes the National Digitisation Strategy and Annual Plan, digitisation-on-demand service, Agency Digitisation Service and proactive digitisation, including the World War II digitisation project. It excludes preservation digitisation of audio-visual and photographic formats. The Digitisation Services section is responsible for both in-house and outsourced digitisation in Canberra, and providing guidance on digitisation activities to all state and territory offices. National Archives has established the Philanthropic Partnership program to oversee, coordinate and support a suite of preservation, digitisation and digital projects that will extend National Archives' capability to secure the collection and connect with audiences in new and innovative ways. The Digitisation Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day management of the Philanthropic Partnership program projects being delivered by Digitisation Services. The key duties of the position include Under limited direction the main duties of the role are to: Co-ordinate, monitor and report on digitisation activity surrounding the delivery of services and/or projects, including the identification and analysis of trends or other issues. Supervise a team involved in the daily operations of digitisation services and/or projects, including co-ordinating staff training and development, and ensuring Work, Health and Safety (WH&S) issues are identified, monitored and reported. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including outsourced providers, and agency and public clients, to build positive relationships and deliver on agreed outcomes and service standards. Identify and put forward ideas to solve problems, and contribute to the review and refinement of procedures, guidelines and workflows, including through research and testing of potential business process improvements under guidance from colleagues in other sections/branches. Co-ordinate and/or undertake the physical handling, retrieval and return of archival records according to both preservation and WH&S principles.
