About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. About the role The Business Analyst serves as a critical link between business stakeholders and agile delivery squads. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure Service Victoria's operational and project objectives are met through the delivery of well-defined, high-value features. The position is responsible for analysing, documenting, and communicating business requirements and translating them into actionable user stories and technical specifications for projects such as the Fuel System, Working with Children Check (WWCC) enhancements, the Tobacco System of Record (SOR), Liquor Vary a Licence, and other liquor-related services. The role also contributes to continuous service improvement by applying data analytics, user insights, and structured feedback to enhance service quality and delivery efficiency within the Agile framework. Key Accountabilities Undertake detailed business process and requirements analysis to support the delivery of system enhancements and digital services in accordance with established project objectives and priorities. Engage with stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document business requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business needs and user expectations. Facilitate or contribute to workshops, interviews, and meetings to support collaborative problem-solving and validate requirements and proposed solutions. Develop and maintain accurate documentation including business process maps, user stories, use cases, and other supporting artefacts to guide solution design and delivery. About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: Demonstrated experience analysing business processes and systems, applying structured techniques to identify issues and opportunities, and providing practical recommendations. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience gathering requirements, preparing documentation, and engaging effectively with stakeholders. Experience contributing to team outcomes in project or agile delivery settings, sharing knowledge, and supporting colleagues to achieve shared objectives. Proven ability to manage own workload, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs while escalating risks appropriately. Demonstrates integrity, respect, accountability, inclusiveness, and ethical behaviour in line with VPS values and workplace standards.
