This department is responsible for managing Australia’s international relations and promoting the country’s interests abroad. Its work spans diplomacy, trade, development, and international policy, including strengthening partnerships with governments, businesses, and multilateral organisations. The department plays a central role in supporting Australians overseas, fostering economic opportunities, and advancing global security and development objectives. This section is responsible for delivering clear, targeted communications to Australians about international travel. It manages a wide range of outputs, including digital campaigns, paid advertising, industry partnerships, and stakeholder engagement. The Opportunity In this dynamic and varied role, you will work closely with the Campaigns Manager to support the development and management of a high-profile paid advertising campaign. You will be part of a multifunctional team and play a key role in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, public relations, and media consultants, to ensure the success of the campaign. Additionally, you will lead and implement communication strategies, assist with ministerial briefings and cabinet submissions, and evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication activities. Support in developing and managing this departments only paid advertising campaign Gain experience across advertising, market research, campaign evaluation, and multicultural engagement The Role Contribute to the design, development, and delivery of a major national communications campaign, ensuring alignment with Australian Government campaign guidelines Identify and implement public relations and culturally and linguistically diverse promotional opportunities to expand campaign reach Manage relationships with creative, PR, and research agencies, as well as the Government’s media and specialist multicultural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander agencies Partner with external communication specialists and industry stakeholders in the travel and tourism sector to engage the broader travelling public Support the Campaign Manager by monitoring risks, tracking achievements, and preparing progress and executive reports Assist with broader team activities, including brief updates, community event coordination, procurement processes, and digital communication support The Ideal Person You will have tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, media and/or more experience working at the APS6 level within state or federal government in a media, campaigns and/or strategic communications role.
