About Yornaning Farms Our client Yornaning Farms is a large-scale, integrated farming enterprise comprising three key operations: Piggery: 400 sows with expansion plans to 600 sows, plus an additional neighbouring piggery lease, bringing the total to 900 sows requiring 7 FTE. Broadacre Cropping: Growing canola, lupins, oaten hay, barley, oats, and wheat across 3,900ha, currently operating with 2 FTE and seasonal casual workers. Stockfeed Manufacturing: Supplying piggery, dairy farms, beef feedlot, and sheep pellets, with an annual throughput of around 10,000t, requiring 3 FTE at peak times. They are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Piggery Stockperson to join their team in Yornaning, Western Australia. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about livestock farming, committed to maintaining high production standards, and capable of supervising and mentoring farm staff. About the Role As a Senior Piggery Stockperson, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care, breeding, and management of pigs, ensuring their welfare and performance in line with strict biosecurity, animal welfare, and workplace safety standards. You will supervise less experienced staff, oversee operational tasks, and contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the piggery enterprise. Key Duties & Responsibilities Supervising site operations, including staff, physical resources, consumables, documentation, safety requirements, and measurement devices. Maintaining compliance with Yornaning Farms’ Quality Assurance program and ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date. Overseeing accurate data collection and recording to support stock and inventory control. Implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimise downtime. Supervising trial sheds and collecting/recording data in line with trial protocols. Selecting breeding stock and pigs for sale. Leading and participating in daily livestock inspections to ensure pigs are properly fed, watered, and cared for, while supervising less experienced Stockpersons. Assessing, identifying, and treating compromised animals according to the Herd Health Plan and industry standards. Humanely euthanising sick or injured animals following the Model Code of Practice for Animal Welfare – Pigs (3rd edition). Conducting post-mortem examinations of deceased stock and reporting findings. Collecting boar semen and undertaking processing duties within the artificial insemination laboratory. Supervising and participating in animal mating, including artificial insemination. Overseeing the birthing process, including internal assessments during parturition to reduce stillbirths. Participating in company and industry training sessions and workshops as required. Performing any additional duties as directed by the Unit Manager. Skills & Experience Required AQF Certificate III in Agriculture (Pig Production) or equivalent qualification (as assessed by a registered training organisation), plus a minimum of three (3) years recent and relevant experience in a medium to large-scale commercial piggery; OR At least five (5) years of recent and relevant experience working in a medium to large-scale commercial piggery. Proven ability to supervise staff and manage daily piggery operations. Strong knowledge of livestock health, breeding, and nutrition practices. Ability to maintain accurate records and follow biosecurity procedures. Commitment to animal welfare and farm safety practices.
