Job Title: Metal Fabricator Location: Carole Park, QLD Salary: $88,275.00 p.a. base overtime and penalties (total earnings $100K p.a.) Employment type: Full-time, ongoing Hours: 38 hours per week (with reasonable additional hours as required) Position Summary: The Metal Fabricator cuts, shapes, assembles and joins heavy gauge metal parts to produce or repair structures that have to withstand pressure, such as storage tanks. Boilermakers trained in structural fabrication may also be involved in fitting, assembling and joining aluminium and steel in the construction or repair of towers, bridges, structural supports or girders. Key Duties and Responsibilities: In this role you will: Examine detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements. Mark, drill, cut, roll, shape, bend, mould, spin, heat or hammer metal products to fabricate parts or sub-assemblies. Ability to select appropriate material, clean and prep for fabrication. Possesses and applies basic welding skills (i.e. mig and tick welding). Develop layout as per details drawings. Heat treat metal parts and components. Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment or Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines. Assemble parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting. Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing, chiseling, grinding or bathing them in acid solutions, or by applying protective or decorative coatings. Assists in the provision of on-the-job training to apprentices and other employees. Responsible for the quality of his / her own work, subject to routine supervision. Ensuring the correct width of bead, penetration and precision Metal Fabricator - Person holding the necessary skill of a boilermaker. Metal Fabricator Second Class (No certificate) - A person with the skills of Trades Assistance Class One and basic welding, cutting and assembly skills. Ensure advice and services are delivered in a consistently competent, professional and timely manner. Ensure appropriate mechanisms for follow-up are in place and actioned. Complies with all Sun Engineering policies and procedures. Efficiently utilizes Sun Engineering systems as appropriate.
