Cook Position Available – Compass Force Pty Ltd t/a Shiva Indian Cuisine Job Title: Cook Location: Prahran, VIC 3181 Employment Type: Full-time Salary: 70,000 to 80,000 AUD plus superannuation We are a renowned Indian restaurant dedicated to delivering authentic and high-quality Indian cuisine to our guests. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team and help us elevate our culinary offerings. Key Responsibilities: Inspect ingredients such as meats, vegetables, and spices to ensure freshness, authenticity, and quality. Operate and regulate ovens, tandoors, grills, and other cooking equipment to maintain proper temperatures. Prepare and cook a variety of traditional Indian dishes including curries, breads, rice, and accompaniments. Season and balance dishes with appropriate Indian spices and flavours throughout the cooking process. Portion and plate meals attractively, adding sauces, chutneys, and garnishes in line with restaurant presentation standards. Store cooked and uncooked food items in temperature-controlled areas to ensure hygiene and freshness. Prepare meals for customers with specific dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options. Assist in planning daily or weekly menus and estimating ingredient quantities as required. Support the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff in Indian cooking techniques and safe food handling practices. Qualifications and Experience: Relevant commercial cookery qualification and industry experience. Sound knowledge of Indian dishes, ingredients, and preparation techniques. Ability to prepare and cook a variety of menu items efficiently. Able to work well under pressure and follow kitchen procedures accurately.
